Ian's Awesome Counter is a utility that offers valuable assistance in improving focus and self-awareness. Developed with the intention of addressing attention regulation and management challenges, this tool has proven to be exceptionally effective.

When it came to finding strategies for helping my son, Ian, manage his attention, we experimented with various methods. Among these, the approach that yielded the best results involved providing regular prompts throughout the day, encouraging him to assess whether he remained on task and focused.

Initially, we relied on a combination of a repeating countdown timer and a hand clicker. However, it soon became cumbersome to keep up with these manual tools. To overcome this challenge, Ian and I collaborated on creating an Apple Watch app that would simplify the process.

The outcome of our efforts is this remarkable app. By configuring the prompt frequency, desired start and end times, as well as setting goals for successful periods, Ian's Awesome Counter effortlessly handles the rest.

If you activate notifications, you'll receive an alert at the end of each period prompting you to evaluate your performance. These values are meticulously recorded within the app, enabling you to review your progress over the past week in the History view.

This incredible app is available completely free of charge. My own family has found it to be an invaluable resource, and my hope is that by sharing it, other families will also benefit from its usage. The app can be conveniently worn either by the individual focusing on their tasks or by a parent/caregiver who can facilitate the prompts.
